Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez announced Friday the arrest of two former police officials involved in the kidnapping and murder of public relations man Salvador "Bubby" Dacer.

Gonzalez said former police senior superintendents Cesar Mancao and Glen Dumlao have been arrested by US authorities.

He said Mancao is currently detained in a Florida jail while Dumlao is under the custody of New York authorities.

The justice secretary said the two former police officials were arrested in the US through the Philippine government's extradition request.

The two have been accused of involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000.

The two were ranking officials of the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) when the crime took place. The anti-kidnapping task force was headed by Sen. Panfilo Lacson in his concurrent capacity as PNP chief.
