Cops raid fake license plate factory

MANILA - Manila Police District (MPD) operatives on Thursday conducted a raid in a Tondo house used as a manufacturing area for fake license plates.
The target of the MPD operation was the house located at the corner of Narra and Batangas Streets in Tondo, Manila where two suspects were arrested.
However, the main suspect, only identified as Rey, was able to evade arrest.
Rey reportedly used the house to produce fake plates including commemorative plates, congressional plates, yellow plates, motorcycle plates. He also manufactured fake Land Transportation Office stickers.
Chief Inspector Fernando Opelanio of the MPD said each fake LTO sticker was sold at P40 while genuine-looking plates were offered at P300 to P1,500 each.
Opelanio said some of the fake plates produced were usually being used by criminals on their get-away vehicles.
