Another school in Bacolod City suspended classes until next week after flu downed more than 160 students.

Officials of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos suspended classes from Friday (July 3) to Wednesday next week (July 8) to give way for the campus' disinfection.

The school administration also said that the suspension was declared to protect other students of the school.

It added that the sick students have yet to be examined by the Department of Health. It is planning to ask the health department to take throat swab samples from several students.

Thermal strips will be used upon the students' return on Thursday (July 9), the school administration said.

Early this week, St. John's Institute suspended classes in Grade 3 after dozens pupils fell ill.

The school suspended classes to avoid the spread of the disease.
